A plastic fork takes over a 1000 years to decompose - yet we only use it once. So much unnecessary waste is created in New York and across the country when we order take out. America produces 25 percent of the worlds garbage, how much of that is unnecessary food packaging?

The Eco-To-Go program has already launched at participating restaurants in New York City; the concept being that when you order takeout, you should advise the restaurant that you want your order to be Eco-To-Go.

Restaurants will respond by delivering the food, with no extras, such as unnecessary napkins and plastic utensils, as you have all you need at home. It also hopes to encourage restaurants to use greener packaging.

To help save Mother Earth from more pollution next time you place an order for delivery or take out say, "Make it Eco To Go" and your food will arrive with basic minimum packaging.

What is "Eco To Go"?
Eco To Go™ is a grassroots education program which promises to alleviate the massive amounts of packaging from becoming waste; saving millions of tons of paper and plastic each year. This translates to saving the worlds' rainforests as well as creating an important tool to take action.

How to use the phrase "Eco To Go"
When you order takeout, advise the restaurant attendant that you want your order to be "Eco To Go". Restaurants will respond by sending the food in its container in a bag, no extras, as you have all you need at home (you may need to educate the attendant).

Eco To Go™ began in New York and is successfully catching on in Texas, Colorado, New Jersey, London and beyond.

One of the main objectives for Ecoagents is educating and informing children about their rights. Ultimately, it is this information that will help them learn to protect their future. It will teach them how negotiate with dishonest corporations, help with their affairs, help protect their land… and protect them.

This information will also help to protect their culture and their natural habitat from contamination and deforestation.

Ecoagents has been working on this project for quite some time now and we have introduced these children in the jungle to all kinds of English childrens books. The purpose of this is to make them more excited and familiar with the English language… and our plan is working. It has now gotten to the point where they are asking us for books. How sad that this is the ONLY contact they have with the outside world.

The trip I’m taking in August is a very exciting one, because we at Ecoagents made a decision to bring more light and knowledge to these children. This trip, in addition to bringing even more books, we’re bringing Spanish/English dictionaries so the kids will have the ability to work on translations themselves. They are so hungry for knowledge and work so hard to learn on their own.

Everything that we’re doing will help make these children become more familiar with the outside world. This is so important because the decisions about the rainforest – their home - are made in the outside world. This knowledge that they gain can be passed on to new generations, and they will become more and more prepared for the challenges ahead. They are the future. THEY can protect the Amazon rainforest for themselves, their families, and for rest of us.

Working With The Tribes To Save The Amazon Rainforest

Ecoagents presently works with and provides education to the tribes of the Amazon Rainforest on their legal rights with tools and knowledge that will help keep the Rainforest from accruing any further damage, destruction or deterioration. With an already established strong presence in the Ecuadorian region of the Amazon Rainforest, near the Curaray River, which is a tributary of the Amazon River, Ecoagents has helped many of the communities of that region of who, without assistance, would have fallen to contamination and destruction.

Ecoagents also provides education to the indigenous people of the Rainforest on how to recognize signs of fraud and deception from individuals and corporations who often use their knowledge of community problems and poverty to take advantage on these communities. Through the concoction of phony stories as well as the false promises of monetary rewards, better education for the children, medicines or worse, through threats of force to sign their land away, these individuals and corporations seize the land from the community so that, ultimately, the ancestral land no longer belongs to them. By providing this knowledge and education of their rights to the natives of the Rainforest, Ecoagents helps to ensure that the tribes do not fall prey to this false deception and do not sign their land away which helps to avoid further irreversible damage to the Rainforest.

ECOAGENTS WORK SCHEDULE FOR MARCH 2006

Fabian heads back to the Amazon rain forest on March 13, deep into the heart of the Curaray river region and right on time for festive celebrations of the local Quechwa community.

The area is so remote only a single engine plane can penetrate it. Months of planning have been carried out so that Ecoagent’s valuable projects can be carried out.

We will be joined by South American linguistic professor Alberto Conejo. A member of the Otavalo Indian tribe and the author of several books about the Quechwa, Mr. Conejo has been employed to conduct a workshop teaching the community about relations with the outside world, preparing them with valuable tools needed if they are to preserve their home.

Ecoagents has also hired local lawyer Maria L. Gonzalez, who will speak with tribe members about what they need to protect their rights to their land, and keep the area safe from pollution, over-development and destruction.

Our work encourages the community to discuss problems and possible solutions among themselves, and identify projects which improve tribal life. We provide financial support for this forum.

We are also working to encourage arts and crafts production by the tribe’s women in an effort to increase their income and self-sufficiency. We are hoping to develop a market for these goods in New York.
Fabian will also be bringing gifts and goods to make sure the March 15 festivities are great, and is hoping to enjoy a party of a level the community deserves.

For this valuable work to continue, donations from concerned New Yorkers are essential. Any donation helps to save part of this isolated, beautiful part of the rainforest.

Ecoagents is working in larger more metropolitan cities through education and awareness of how to become more environmentally conscious so that modern destructive patterns can be reversed and the Rainforest can remain healthy for generations.

Ecoagents educational efforts with the people of the Quechua tribe of the Amazon Rainforest has been on a minor scale up to this point. Ecoagents mission is to move into a much larger scale and to create a greater impact and make a substantial difference. They are presently seeking the legal help from lawyers to make this happen. There is much more work to be done and it will be through funds and support that will make it possible to save the Amazon Rainforest.

ECOAGENTS CURRENT WORK

• Ecoagents is presently operating in the province of Paztaza Ecuador which borders Peru. They are working with the communities in the Ecuadorian region of the Amazon Rainforest by the Curaray River which is a tributary of the Amazon River. • Ecoagents currently travels to this corner of the world to educate the tribal people of their rights to protect their land from contamination and to keep the Rainforest from enduring further damage for future generations.

• Ecoagents is about to start a mobile professional legal advice shop so that every single tribe of the Amazon Rainforest will have access to accurate information to aid in their fight to keep destruction and contamination from continuing in the Rainforest at no cost to the tribes.

• Ecoagents provides the tribe members with environmentally safe clothing through donations. The only way to get supplies to the tribes is by one small plane which is very costly.

• Ecoagents is contacting various medical organizations to set up ongoing medical trips to the tribes.

• Ecoagents is arranging educational trips to the heart of the Amazon Rainforest where visitors can experience the vibrancy of the forest and it's people first hand.

• Ecoagents also provides education to the indigenous people of the Rainforest on how to recognize signs of fraud and deception from individuals and corporations who often use their knowledge of community problems and poverty to take advantage on these communities. In our quest to protect the forest from contamination and destruction Ecoagents has identified the most effective and means to protect and prevent the Amazon Rainforest through the following means:

1- Educate the tribes about their own rights
Ecoagents is presently educating tribes of the Amazon Rainforest thourgh the development of a full time mobile legal work shop. Ecoagents’ mission is that every single indigenous tribe member will have access to the knowledge that will empower them and help ensure their freedom.

2- Create Self Sufficiency
Ecoagents is showing the tribes how to become self sufficient so that they won’t need to become reliant on false economic incentives. Ecoagents is organizing an artisan workshop with women of the tribes so their work can be available on the internet for sale in the United States by April 2006.

3- Support for the children
Ecoagents is recruiting volunteers to go to the rainforest and help educate the children and teach them to become fluent in English. In order to defend themselves in the international court of law they most know English while keeping their own identity.

CREATING AWARENESS IN THE BIG C I T Y

• Ecoagents is currently involved in personal and group discussions about creating responsible environmental consciousness towards nature in particular when it comes to plastic and paper waste.

• Ecoagents’ website offers pictures and graphics accessible for educational purposes at no charge.

• Ecoagents has started an educational movement in New York City about ways to go to protect the rainforests of the world.

FUNDS AND BENEFITS

While Ecoagents does their job in the rainforest, here in the concrete jungle Ecoagents is also creating awareness by organizing parties, events and gatherings to share feelings, knowledge and information, while at the same time creating funds to continue the fight to save the Amazon Rainforest. This fight is everyone's responsibility because, after all, nature is used to everyone’s benefit. Ecoagents is encouraging everyone to do something small in return to help reverse the damage. One of the simplest changes is not wasting plastic or paper.

Ecoagents has been productive and the results have been substantial. They are achieving their goals but the efforts will need to continue when it comes to protecting the rainforests of the world.

Legal help is the most important tool as is medical attention. In fall 2006 Ecoagents will be bringing a medical team to the tribes of the Rainforest.
Starting April 2006 Ecoagents will have art and ceramic from he tribes of the Rainforest for sale in the United States. All the proceeds will go directly back to the indigenous artist.

Nightlife Meets Wildlife at Rock Candy’s Rainforest Benefit

New York, NY – Wondering why it’s so hot this first week in November? Or why the weather has been beyond strange lately? It might be due to a little thing called global warming — due largely in part to the depletion of our earth’s rainforests. Sure, we’ve all heard the statistics, but just watching today’s weather reports is proof that global warming is a reality. To raise awareness and money for this important cause environmental action group Ecoagents is teaming up with Manhattan club Rock Candy for a late night benefit this Saturday, November 5th.

Starting at 9 PM and going strong all the way to 4 AM, the Ecoagent’s benefit gives nightlife goers the chance to give back to a worthy cause while enjoying the atmosphere of one of the city’s hippest clubs. The suggested donation at the door is $20 with all proceeds going directly to the non-profit group Ecoagents and their efforts to save the Amazonian rainforest. Once there, patrons can enjoy an open bar from 9 – 10:30 and tunes spun by DJ Peter Parker.

Ecoagents, founded in 1999, is a non-profit organization created to defend and protect the Amazon rainforest, its people and ancient culture from damage, pollution and further destruction. Currently, they are working with numerous tribes of the Amazon rainforest to educate them on their legal rights that will help keep the rainforest from accruing any more damage, destruction and deterioration. Their partner in this event, Rock Candy, is a one-of-a-kind nightclub located in mid-town Manhattan.
